Up a Tree Again…and four other vintage photographs.

I recently gave WordPress $13 to continue my domain forwarding for another year.  I guess that means I should post something to make the expenditure worthwhile.  Here’s a picture of a woman climbing a tree.  I bought her because she looks like pictures I’ve seen of my grandmother when she was in her early 20s.  I have named the picture “Up a Tree Again” after the Looper song.

And here are four other vintage photographs of varying quality.  I bought two of them out of pity, one because I felt like it might offer some interesting background research opportunities, and another because it was close to being up my alley.

Wow that tv/turntable console is excellent!! I want one. The cathedral man looks distinguished.

I spent some time on eBay last night looking around for that exact model. I couldn’t find it, but I decided that the whole thing has basically been replaced by a tablet computer and a wifi connection. I think that’s sort of sad.

I think Cathedral Man might’ve been a scientist or an author.

The girl at the tv/turntable console looks like my mom at that age!

  3. Your people-on-a-ship photos make me want to take a cruise. They all look so posh and happy and Cole-Porter-‘Begin the Beguine’ -like. With my luck however, I’ll probably get stuck on a boat that breaks down in the middle of the Atlantic with the toilets not working.

Despite the fact that I collect people-on-a-ship photos, I don’t think I’d be interested in anything more than a quick ferry trip. I especially wouldn’t want to go on a Carnival Cruise-type trip. I could win one of those and probably wouldn’t even bother.
